We dedicate to bring the best quality of Japanese Akita Inu to our owners. We will always seek opportunities to learn and study how we can contribute to the well-being of our dogs. We will not be limited by what we know now but continue to explore and improve ourselves.
Akinokaze means autumn breeze in Japanese. We wish our puppies are like the gentle breeze in autumn that takes away the sultry heat of summer and protects you from the melancholy of winter. We hope each of our puppies can become a special and irreplaceable family member in their forever homes.
We are registered with DOGSNSW and ANKC in Australia. And all our puppies will have ANKC pedigree papers.
Meanwhile, our kennel is directly registered with Akitainu Hozonkai (AKIHO 秋田犬保存会) in Japan, and I am also a member of AKIHO. We will follow the breed standards from AKIHO and regulations from both clubs to maintain the optimal quality of puppies.
Our DOGSNSW membership number is 2100103048.
Aki is calm, loyal, affectionate, and has all the merits that are expected as a family companion. He is the reason why I started my breeding career with the aim to preserve this beautiful breed and contribute to maintaining the quality of the breed.
*Please note that Aki is neutered and not included in our breeding program. But he will be assisting in puppy sitting to help with their early socialization*
Our journey started with a special boy, a Japanese Akita puppy, who joined our family in May 2018. We named him Aki, which means autumn in Japanese. And later Aki did grow up with amazing traits of typical autumn characteristics, bringing warmness but not burning, having calmness but not aloofness. He is one of the best things that happened to us.
My partner and I are huge fans of travelling and hiking, and of course with Aki by our side. Over the past 4 years, we have been to a lot of places, from city to country, from beach to Snowy Mountain. The furthest trips we made are Brisbane in Queensland and Dinner Plain in Victoria. Aki had done an amazing job as our travel buddy. He behaved well and greeted people we met during the trip. Whoever met Aki were all amazed by his calm and affectionate temperaments including vets. We have also done some other fun outdoor activities such as camping, farm staying, kayaking, and paddling. I hope Akinokaze owners can also enjoy doing these outdoor activities with their Akitas, as they are adventurers and love exploring nature. This also plays a crucial role in shaping a calm and stable personality. The more places they have been, the calmer and more confident they’re, and they will be less reactive to new environments and adapt well to challenges and changes.
In late 2019, Aki had been diagnosed with a relatively uncommon disease called Sebaceous Adenitis. It broke our hearts to see him suffering from itchiness and excessive shedding. Fortunately, this disease is not life-threatening and only affects his appearance. Besides taking Aki to see the best dermatologist in Sydney, we've done extensive research on the etiology of this disease and useful treatments including journal articles, breeder websites, and Facebook group threads. We've also made several attempts of different treatments in an effort to find out the most suitable regime for Aki to manage this disease. Aki is doing great on the current regime we use. We always use Aki's example to encourage other SA owners to have faith in managing this disease and never give up on them. Having SA does not mean it is the end of the world, they are still the same dogs we love but with fewer works on vacuuming during the shedding season!
At Akinokaze, our dogs are cherished members of our family and live inside our home not in kennels. This home-based environment allows us to give each dog the individual love, attention, and care they deserve. Because of our commitment to their well-being, we intentionally keep a limited number of dogs and only breed occasionally. Our breeding program prioritises the health, temperament, and long-term happiness of our dogs and their puppies. As such, our wait times may be longer than some breeders, but this reflects the thoughtful, quality-first approach we take in every step of our process.
We are deeply committed to ensuring our puppies go to loving, responsible, and well-matched homes. We take great care in getting to know prospective owners to make sure each puppy is placed in the most suitable forever home. Our focus is on producing healthy puppies with stable, trainable temperaments. Each breeding is the result of careful research and selection. We import dogs from top-quality bloodlines in Japan and Europe, chosen for their health, structure, and temperament. Full details about our dogs and their pedigrees can be found on our website. All of our breeding dogs undergo comprehensive health testing, including Hip & Elbow scoring, Thyroid, Amelogenesis Imperfecta screening.
And of course, if you need some recommendations on outdoor adventures, we are more than happy to share our experience!
